Year 12 Physics, Module 2
Develop an appreciation and understanding of applying the principles of physics, the theories, laws, models, systems and structures of physics, fill gaps and practice physics knowledge and scientific skills for the highest achievement level in the HSC Physics subject.
In Module 2 of this course, you will explore interactions that take place between charged particles and electric and magnetic fields while polishing your scientific skills and techniques.
Explore Module 1, Module 3 and Module 4 of this course. Alternatively, explore Academic Help (tutoring) for the topics covered by the modules of this course.
This course covers Stage 6, Year 12 Physics topics from the latest NSW Physics syllabus. It focuses on physics concepts and scientific processes to help students develop an appreciation and understanding of applying the principles of physics, the theories, laws, models, systems and structures of physics, fill gaps and practice physics knowledge and scientific skills for the highest achievement level in the HSC Physics subject.
The course is organised into four modules. This is Module 2 of the course. Please explore Module 1, Module 3 and Module 4. For best outcomes, students should complete the modules in order from Module 1 to Module 4, one module per School Term during Year 12.
To complete each module, students attend ten weekly sessions, either:
- In a small class setting (classroom teaching, maximum of eight students), or
- In a small learning group setting (boutique group teaching, maximum of three students), or
- Individually (private teaching, one-on-one).
Each session is 3 hours in duration. Experienced teachers facilitate each of the ten sessions as follows:
- Eight content master classes,
- One assessment class, and
- One content and assessment review master class.
Students who do not wish to attend the pre-programmed weekly sessions for the modules of this course or need additional help while completing the modules can apply for Academic Help (tutoring) as needed. The Academic Help (tutoring) sessions are tailored to target student’s specific needs, for example, help students catch up with their peers on individual topics covered by the modules of this course, complete homework, prepare for assessments, or provide advanced students with additional challenges for individual topics covered by modules of this course.
What content does Module 2 cover?
The Physics topics covered in Module 2 of this course are generally the same topics covered during School Term 2 of Year 12 (calendar School Term 1) by schools. But please note that schools have full autonomy to decide when to teach Physics content and in what order, so an alignment of topics is only sometimes possible.
Please explore the Module 2 lessons below for more information.
Who should attend?
- Year 12 students during School Term 2 (calendar School Term 1).
- Year 12 students during School Term 1 (calendar School Term 4), if they wish to stay ahead of their peers.
- Older students, when the course is running, if they need to catch up with their peers.
For best outcomes, students should attend the Module 2 sessions while attending School Term 2 of Year 12 (calendar School Term 1). However, students who wish to stay ahead of the topics covered at school during Year 12 should attend the Module 2 sessions while attending School Term 1 of Year 12 (calendar School Term 4). Finally, older students who need to catch up with their peers can attend the Module 2 sessions when running.
